Creating a one-of-a-kind Engagement Ring

Making engagement or wedding rings is a unique process- starting with a simple idea and building it into a cherished heirloom.

There are no limitations when it comes to bridal - rings made with opal, garnet, moonstone, or even no stones at all- all are equally beautiful and fun to make. The design and look is a personal choice and can be as unconventional as the wearer wants it to be.

The Process

Starting the construction involves lots of inspiration, designing, and consultation. Working with the client requires deliberating on exact specifications before anything is forged into metal.

Generally, I do some sketches around the basic idea, and we decide which one is best to go forward. Photos of other rings and inspiration are helpful in this refining process.

If the client has any heirloom gold, diamonds, or other gemstones that they want to incorporate into the ring, I take the metal and credit it towards the cost of the ring.

I melt down gold in my studio using some basic tools, and roll it out into fresh raw materials.

Finishing Touches

Once the ring or rings are complete, there’s always a chance that the rings will need adjustments. I am happy to provide a complimentary re-sizing down to the quarter size, to ensure that the fit is exact and secure.

Because this is arguably the most important piece of jewelry a person will own in their lifetime, I aim to make the ring as perfect as possible for the client. I take the extra time and detailing on each engagement/bridal design so that everyone is happy on the special day.
